Scuba Diving in Hurghada for Complete Beginners

Your first breath underwater is a moment you will remember forever. Here is exactly what happens, so you can arrive curious instead of nervous.

How a first dive day works

The program is called Discover Scuba Diving. No exam, no certification needed, minimum age 10.

1. Pickup and briefing. We collect you from your Hurghada hotel around 8:00. On the boat, your instructor explains the equipment, the three golden rules, and the hand signals - in plain language.
2. Shallow practice. You enter calm, waist-to-chest-deep water and learn to breathe through the regulator with your face in the water. This is where the magic clicks: it just works.
3. The dive. One-on-one with your PADI professional (never a big group of beginners on one pro), you glide over the reef at 3 to 6 meters, working up to a maximum of 12 meters only if you are completely relaxed. Fish do not care that you are new - they come close anyway.

The day costs about 70 EUR including all equipment, the boat trip, lunch and pickup.

The fears we hear every week

• "What if I panic?" Your instructor holds contact the entire time and you can surface at any moment. Going slowly is the whole plan.
• "My ears hurt in pools." We teach you to equalize before it hurts, and we descend at your pace, not ours.
• "I wear glasses." Prescription masks exist; tell us in advance.
• "I am not fit enough." Diving is the laziest sport in the world - the best divers move the least.

Try dive or straight to the course?

If you are sure you will love it, the PADI Open Water course (3-4 days) is better value - the try dive can often count toward it. If you just want to taste it on a holiday day, Discover Scuba is perfect.

Either way, come dive with someone patient. First impressions underwater last a lifetime.
