Requirements

What certification do you need?

Wrecks reward experience. Here is the honest picture of who can dive what - and if you are not there yet, we can get you there.

Open Water + some experience

El Mina

Sitting at 25-30 m just 20 minutes from the harbor, El Mina is the classic first wreck. Open Water divers with some logged dives can enjoy the upper sections; a guide stays close.

Advanced Open Water

Abu Nuhas & Thistlegorm

Depths to 28-32 m and open-sea conditions mean these trips need Advanced Open Water, or a deep adventure dive, plus recent diving experience. Certification cards are checked.

PADI Wreck Diver specialty

Going further

Want to learn lines, lights and safe wreck technique on real ships? The PADI Wreck Diver course runs over 2 days with 4 wreck dives at Abu Nuhas territory.

Final dive sites depend on weather, sea conditions, certification level and the daily operation plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a certification for wreck diving?
Yes. Wreck diving is for certified divers, and the more famous wrecks such as the Thistlegorm are best suited to divers with Advanced Open Water or more experience.
Which wrecks can I dive near Hurghada?
Popular options include the cargo wrecks of Abu Nuhas, the El Mina near Hurghada, and the World War Two wreck of the Thistlegorm, which usually requires a longer or liveaboard-style trip.
Will we go inside the wrecks?
Some penetration is possible on suitable wrecks for appropriately trained divers, but this is always at the guide's discretion based on conditions and your certification level.
