Who this course is for

Ask experienced divers about their favorite course and most will say Rescue Diver. It is challenging, occasionally exhausting, and genuinely fun, and it changes how you dive. It is for divers who want to stop being a passenger underwater and start being someone a buddy can rely on. You need to be a PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver with the underwater navigation dive completed, be at least 12 years old, and hold Emergency First Response training (or equivalent CPR and first aid) within the last 24 months. No EFR yet? We arrange it alongside the course.

Why take it in Hurghada

Rescue training involves a lot of surface work, towing, and repeated scenarios, and doing that in warm, calm Red Sea water instead of cold chop makes a real difference to how much you absorb. Our instructors have managed real situations over many years of daily boat operations, so the scenarios you practice are drawn from things that actually happen: a tired diver at the surface after a current picked up, a panicked diver who bolted for the surface, a buddy who went missing on a reef with ten other groups around. You train with people who know the difference between textbook and reality.

What you learn

The course starts with the most important idea in dive safety: prevention. You learn to spot stress before it becomes panic, in yourself and in others. Through eLearning and briefings you cover self-rescue, recognizing and managing diver stress, emergency equipment and oxygen use, missing diver procedures and search patterns, surfacing an unresponsive diver, in-water rescue breathing, and how to organize an emergency response when you are the most qualified person on the scene.

Practical training

Over three days you complete rescue exercises in the water and then put them together in realistic open water scenarios. You will assist tired and panicked divers, respond from shore and boat, search for and surface a missing diver, manage an unresponsive diver at the surface while removing equipment and giving rescue breaths, and handle exits with an incapacitated buddy. Expect to be surprised: instructors are famous for staging problems when you least expect them. By the final scenario you will notice something has shifted, because you are scanning the water and thinking ahead without being told to.

Your certification

You finish as a PADI Rescue Diver, one of the most respected recreational certifications in diving. Beyond the card, you gain calm. Divers consistently tell us they feel more relaxed after this course because they finally know what they would do if something went wrong. Rescue Diver is also the gateway to the professional path: it is a prerequisite for the PADI Divemaster program, which you can complete with us here in Hurghada.
